Our Son’s Experience With Vision Care
The summer of 2006, we came to San Diego for Vision Care following seventh grade for our son, Ari. He had received two D’s for final grades and my husband and I knew we needed some help. A friend recommended that we come to the Center. During the assessment process, we discovered that Ari’s eyes didn’t converge (come together) when he read. A regular eye exam didn’t pick this up. Ari didn’t like to read at all and this was probably a contributing factor.
During the eighteen weeks that Ari was in treatment, he did the homework and, through the positive methods used by his teachers, I know Ari always felt successful. To him, the exercises were like games and each week he was able to advance. Ari’s self-esteem improved.
This year, 2006-2007, Ari’s grades improved dramatically. I can’t say that he loves to read but he has found certain books that he enjoys which deal with football, baseball and basketball. Ari had been diagnosed with a mild case of ADD at two years age. Because of vision care and some very good behavioral interventions at school, Ari has been able to stay off of medication. Both his independent and instructional reading scores increased to at grade level and above grade level.
We were very happy with our experience at San Diego Center For Vision Care.
Sincerely,
